The European Poker Tour has today announced that the EPT Season 10 Player of the Year Award will come with the biggest prize for a single player of any “Player of the Year” contest in the poker world.

The EPT will award €50,000 to the Player of the Year, which can be used to enter any main event operated by the Rational Group. This includes the European Poker Tour, the Latin American Poker Tour, the Asia Pacific Poker Tour, and a series of additional regional poker tours throughout the world.

“It is only fitting that the world’s biggest and richest poker tour – the European Poker Tour – hosts the world’s most prestigious player award for the best player of the season,” said Edgar Stuchly, the President of the European Poker Tour. “The European Poker Tour features some of the biggest poker tournaments in the world, with the best players in the world, and this prestigious award is matched by a valuable prize.”

Players will earn points according to the Global Poker Index (GPI) points formula, and the GPI will administer the points. The GPI formula rewards the performance of players over the long-term, and using the independent GPI system ensures that this valuable award is trusted and respected globally.

For Season 10 of the EPT, players in all live EPT Festival tournaments with at least 24 players and open entry are eligible to earn points. This excludes invitational events and other events with restricted entry requirements, thereby ensuring that every player is able to compete on a level playing field.

In many cases, local regional tours have poker events that coincide with EPT festivals, such as in Barcelona (with the Estrellas Poker Tour) and in London (with the UK and Ireland Poker Tour). All such events held in conjunction with EPT events will allow players to earn points towards the EPT award.
