Home / Uncategorized / TCOOP 2014: Jule622 dials up a victory in Event #10 ($11+Rebuys, 3X-Turbo)

In the past playing at PokerStars with mobility meant moving one’s laptop or PC setup into another room or a coffee shop when your wifi connection went down. Now players are free to get a few hands in or an SnG during their morning commute on their favorite smartphone or tablet. Tonight’s Turbo Championship of Online Poker Event #10 $11 Rebuy (3x-Turbo) would feature a little notation that the champ Jule622 was playing from a tablet, maybe inspiring more people to whip out their iPads and Galaxy 4s for big time final tables. After a five-way split gave mor255 the largest cut of the prizepool ($51,360.91), Jule622 would take away the champion’s card protector and $49,829.28 thanks mostly to the 12,347 players that racked up an impressive 33,391 re-buys and 5,659 add-ons.

It was quite a run for Team PokerStars Pro Liv Boeree today as she would come oh so close to a final table and a possible TCOOP title today. Nearly five hours into the tournament with the blinds up to 700K/1.4MM ante 175K Asmodei10 would open shove from the cutoff seat for 12.9 million chips as Liv sat in the big blind with 11.3 million and pocket sevens 7â™  7♦ . Not an easy decision but with the rapidly increasing blinds, Boeree made the call all-in facing off against Asmodei10’s middle ace A♣ 8â™  . A eight on the flop 9♦ 9♣ 8♥ 5♣ Qâ™  sent the final Team Pro out in 20th place earning $976.54.

On the final hand before the fifth hourly break another familiar face was trying for a TCOOP title. Kyle ‘KJulius10’ Julius with a Sunday Million win under his belt and almost snagged Sunday Million win #2 in 2013 would shove from the big blind for 12.4 million chip over the min-raise of mor255. mor255 covered and made the call with the speculative 8♣ 5♣ as Julius turned up an ace A♥ 2♦ . No luck for Kyle here to acquire another notch of the PokerStars Grand Slam as a five came off 5â™  K♦ 4♣ 7♦ 7♣ handing him $1,079.33 in 16th place.

After Wall Street favorite Gord0nGeck0 lost out to The_Stro_Sho in 11th place ($2,055.88) hand-for-hand started up with 1.5MM/3MM ante 375K blinds an average chip stack around 10 big blinds. Hand-for-hand play would stretch a little longer than normal for the TCOOP as the blinds kicked up to 2.5MM/5MM ante 625K before naming the final table. zOngGGg would open shove from the small blind as shortstacked bond0075 was pinned down in the big blind with only 5.8 million chips behind having to call all-in with 4♣ 3♣ . Suited and alive for bond0075 as zOngGGg showed 9♦ 10♣ . Well, alive until the turned straight 10♦ 8♦ Q♣ J♠ 4♦ for zOngGGg sent bond0075 to the rail and started up the final table below:

TCOOP10_012514.jpg

Seat 1: Jule622 (52215240 in chips)
Seat 2: The_Stro_Sho (19188123 in chips)
Seat 3: Julian F. Se (13629015 in chips)
Seat 4: maior58 (26720327 in chips)
Seat 5: mor255 (57984136 in chips)
Seat 6: Asmodei10 (25061572 in chips)
Seat 7: zOngGGg (52043593 in chips)
Seat 8: babbelz (34056904 in chips)
Seat 9: ljpuster (26085090 in chips)

As the final table began several players expressed an interest for a deal as ninth place would be walking away with $3,212.31 and a chop at this point might get around $15K or sixth place cash.

No chop for you

Someone was not clicking for a deal, as shortstacked The_Stro_Sho sitting UTG with just 7.7 million and 3MM/6MM ante 750K made a play and shoved holding J♣ Q♣ . Folded around to Jule622 making the small call also suited in clubs K♣ 9♣ . Neither player would touch the ace-heavy board A♦ 10♦ A♣ Aâ™  6♦ as Jule6222’s king played as The_Stro_Sho earned the aforementioned $3,212.31 in ninth place and play continued on without a deal in place.

zOngGGg is gone

As the blinds moved up to 5MM/10MM ante 125K the talks of a chop quieted down despite the chip stacks rapidly wilting. zOngGGg holding 13.2 million after paying the small blind would catch a favorable spot by open shoving after the table folded around. babbelz however was almost obligated to call for three million more and did so with 9â™  4♣ . zOngGGg’s 8â™  A♥ survived the trip deuces on the flop but not the nine and four 2â™  2♥ 2♣ 9♦ 4♦ that followed as zOngGGg picked up $5,139.70 in eighth place.

Major defeat

Two hands later with the blinds holding, maior58 would be the next to try to stay above water by open shoving 23.3 million from UTG as it folded all the way around the table to Julian F. Se in the big blind with K♥ 6♥ . Julian would make the card as maior58 was happy to see the six kicker after turning over big slick A♠ K♠ . Pleased until the flop shot out a couple more sixes 6♦ 6♠ 5♠ 9♣ 9♦ handing Julian F. Se the 60 million chip pot as maior58 took away $10,279.40 in seventh place.

mor means less

On the very next hand 55.3 million chips would trade hands and spark a chop talks among the final five players. Watch this hand below as unfortunately this would be a costly loss:

mor255’s 7♣ 9â™  would get to take the chip lead into the chop talks as ljpuster’s pocket fives 5â™  5♣ failed to hold on the 10♣ K♥ 7♦ 6♣ 6♦ board to earn $15,419.10 in sixth place.

Five-way play for the extra $8,000

With over 2,000 people watching our final five would take 15 minutes to hash out a deal that bumped the super-shortstacked Asmodei10 up to nearly fourth place cash and left $8,000 on the table for the TCOOP champ.

mor255 (Israel) $51,360.91
Jule622 (Germany) $41,829.28
Julian F. Se (Colombia) $41,175.08
babbelz (Netherlands) $34,775.04
Asmodei10 (Russia) $24,856.75

Babbling away

Two hands later as the blinds moved up to 6MM/12MM ante 1.5MM Supernova babbelz with a Sunday Million final table /poker/learn/news/sm/2013/sunday-million-flush098765-runs-down-edw-139081.html to credit would open shove from the cutoff for 33.2 million. Folding around to mor255 sitting on over 100 million and 10â™  K♦ in the big blind. mor255 made the call facing off against babbelz’s two live cards J♦ 2♥ . Nothing over a nine on this 4♣ 6â™  9♣ 3♣ 6♥ board sent babbelz out of the tournament in fourth place ($34,775.04).

Less of mor

Six hands later Jule622 would score a 136 million chip double up off mor255, setting up the former chip leader for a quick fall from grace. Two more hands as the blinds remained at 6MM/12MM ante 1.5MM mor255 would shove 63.7 million chips from the button holding a medium ace A♥ 8♦ . Julian F. Se would pounce on the bet by calling from the big blind with the dominating J♠ A♠ . The turn 9♠ 6♠ 6♦ 10♠ 2♥ left no chance to hit the eight kicker, giving Julian F. Se the 138 million chip pot and mor255 the most cash in the tourney with $51,360.91 in third place.

Jule622 claims Event #10

Twelve hands of heads-up play could be considered semi-epic by TCOOP standards despite each player holding nearly 150 million tournament chips they would hold just over ten big blinds apiece leaving little wiggle room for play. The tenth hand shown below would decide tonight’s champ:

Julian F. Se got frisky from the button and shoved for 155 million holding 2♣ 10♦ but did not scare away Jule622 who called all-in with a dominating Aâ™  10â™  . Each player would pair their ten 4♣ 10♥ 5♣ 4♦ Q♦ but Jule622’s ace kicker would claim the 299.7 million chip pot. Two hands later Jule622 would claim the scraps, the extra $8,000.00, and tonight’s TCOOP Event #10 title!
