The Turbo Championship of Online Poker (TCOOP) is all about action, big fields and enormous prize pools. It’s also about time efficiency. I mean, who really wants to grind poker for 16 hours straight, right? It’s much better to smash and grab for a few hours and turn $33 into over $30,000. Belgium’s Joopster26 certainly thought so after winning Event #13 of the 2014 TCOOP schedule today.

The event was the $33 Saturday Speedway Special Edition, a Turbo No Limit Holdem event which offered a $150,000 guarantee. Well, that guarantee was blown out of the water as 8,371 players came together to produce a prize pool of $251,130.

The Team PokerStars Pros were out in force including the likes of Marcel Luske, Andre Coimbra, Nacho Barbero, George Lind and Mickey Petersen, but sadly they all missed the money for the top 1,260 players.

Also missing the money was the Bogabogaboga from Norway, who despite having one of the catchiest usernames in the field was our unlucky bubble in 1,261st place. Thankfully it was a Turbo, so only about 90 minutes of Bogabogaboga’s valuable time was committed in vain.

With a minimum $45.20 locked up, the players gambled their way towards the final table.

Jon Turner (1,257th – $45.20), Patrick Vo (1,178th – $45.20), Raiden Kan (868th – $55.24), Sam Rotar (826th – $57.75), Team PokerStars Pro Max Lykov (731st – $62.78), Annette Obrestad (589th – $70.31) and Stevan Chew (523rd – $75.33) were some of those to finish in the money with Lykov the last red spade standing in the field.

It would take just over three and a half hours of play for the field to be reduced to a final table of nine with Karimaster missing out on a final table berth by the narrowest margin. Karimaster got into trouble shoving 5♣ 2♣ into Ahyder20’s Aâ™  K♦ , before the final chips went in with 10♦ 10♥ against Joopster26’s Q♣ 9â™  . Joopster26 would connect twice with the board to make two pair and leave Karimaster to depart in 10th place as the final table was set as follows:

Final Table Line Up
Seat 1: Joopster26 (4,353,004 in chips)
Seat 2: Prosiczek113 (2,525,109 in chips)
Seat 3: TOMASHAN (1,911,997 in chips)
Seat 4: Ahyder20 (2,633,120 in chips)
Seat 5: StacksNY (6,386,704 in chips)
Seat 6: eze88888 (4,820,646 in chips)
Seat 7: BkkBoy88 (2,631,257 in chips)
Seat 8: deep stac499 (12,121,882 in chips)
Seat 9: Supernanny65 (4,471,281 in chips)

The final table blinds would kick off at 140k/280k/28k with deep stac499 holding a commanding chip lead and a few players under pressure from the rapidly-growing blinds and antes.

However in the early stages it was “double up central” as the shorties fought back into contention.

BkkBoy88 would take a dent out of the chip leader with an early double up holding ace-ten against deep stac499’s king-jack, while the king-jack worked a little better for Prosiczek113 who spiked trips to double through StacksNY who held pocket queens.

Ahyder20 joined in the fun with ace-king proving profitable against deep stac499’s ace-three as all nine players remained firmly in contention, and it would take a rather brutal flop to break the deadlock:

It was the wrong time for TOMASHAN to hit top pair as BkkBoy88 had flopped quads! TOMASHAN headed to the rail in 9th place for $1,946.25.

Prosiczek113 was soon to follow, calling all in with K♥ Q♥ to be racing with Supernanny65’s 2♣ 2♦ . Prosiczek113 added a straight draw on the 8♣ Jâ™  9♣ flop but the 5â™  turn and 7â™  river bricked the board to see Prosiczek113 pick up $2,762.43 for 8th place.

Joopster26 picked up a huge double up with ace-king connecting with the board against eze88888’s pocket jacks to leave eze88888 short stacked and in trouble. When the blinds rolled around, eze88888 was all in from the big blind with J♦ 5♦ against StacksNY’s K♥ 8♦ . The board would be spread 4♥ Q♦ 4♣ K♣ 10♦ to see eze88888 depart in 7th place for $5,022.60.

Such is the nature of turbo events, the tide can turn very quickly, as former chip leader deep stac499 soon discovered. A three-way all in would see deep stac499 tangle with Kâ™  10♦ against Supernanny65’s 6♣ 6♥ and Joopster26’s powerhouse K♥ K♦ . The baby board of 7♣ 2â™  4♦ 2♥ 2♣ changed nothing to give Joopster26 the massive pot and leave deep stac499 derailed in 6th place for $7,533.90 in prize money.

Joopster26 continued to power along but it was Supernanny65 who challenged for the lead after getting a little out of line, and then a whole lot of lucky, in the following hand:

That’s how you crack jacks!

StacksNY said, “lmao”
BkkBoy88 said, “omfg”

StacksNY was crippled and all in next hand for less than the price of the small blind. With two callers, the players checked down the board of Q♦ 6â™  J♣ Kâ™  2♥ where Supernanny65’s 7â™  7♥ was enough to take down the pot. StacksNY had to be content with a five-figure return of $10,045.20 for 5th place.

Joopster26 and Supernanny65 were well in front, so you’d think they would avoid getting in each other’s way. Nup. The two quickly smacked heads in a remarkable hand:

It was jacks against queens for three-quarters of the chips in play, but five spades on board left both players with a split pot and feelings of either frustration or relief.

BkkBoy88 couldn’t keep pace and was forced to make a move with A♥ 3♦ but Ahyder20 made the call with a dominant Aâ™  9♦ . The board ran out 4♣ 6♥ J♥ 7â™  2♦ to leave BkkBoy88 with a very tidy $12,556.50 for 4th place.

The three remaining players briefly entertained the idea of a deal, but nothing eventuated, leaving the short-stacked Ahyder20 to fight for a double up against the two chip leaders.

In a battle of the blinds, Ahyder20 found a very respectable A♥ 8♣ and moved all in but Supernanny65 made the call with 9♦ 9♠ . The flop was an interesting 9♥ 7♦ J♣ , giving Supernanny65 a set, but improving Ahyder20 from three outs to four. Needing a ten to survive, the 4♠ turn and 3♦ river were very bricky, leaving Ahyder20 to exit in 3rd place for $18,834.75 in prize money.

Heads-up Chip Counts
Seat 1: Joopster26 (26,202,324 in chips)
Seat 9: Supernanny65 (15,652,676 in chips)

The two dominant forces on this final table would now go head-to-head for the title with Joopster26 holding a solid lead over Supernanny65.

Almost immediately the two paused the clock and accepted a heads-up deal based on their chip counts that would leave $3,000 and the title in the middle to play for.

After the rather wild ride to get to this point, the heads-up battle was surprisingly tight with most of the pots kept pretty small. This seemed to suit Supernnany65 who slowly chipped away at the chip discrepancy to even things up.

Something had to give, and in two big hands, it was all brought to an end.

First Joopster26 would fire three barrels of value on a board of 9♦ 7♠ J♣ 9♣ 2♥ . Supernnany65 called it down but mucked at the sight of 9♠ 6♥ for trip nines.

The very next hand, Joopster26 three-bet jammed all in with 3♠ 3♥ and Supernnany65 decided to call it off with K♦ 10♥ . The race was on but nothing changed through the board of 4♥ 6♥ Q♠ J♦ J♣ .

Supernanny65’s run would come to an end in 2nd place for a post-deal total of $29,705.61 as Joopster26 became the newest TCOOP champion, winning $34,238.43. Congratulations!
