It’s deja vu at another Eureka Poker Tour event because for the third event in a row records have been smashed. First Eureka3 Prague saw the biggest ever field for the tour, a record it held until the very next event – Eureka4 Vienna. Now here in Rozvadov, another record has been broken for the biggest ever standalone Eureka event with 493 players, 72 more than this same event last year. Even still, the €500,000 guarantee has meant an overlay of €7,000 and the first prize will be a very impressive-looking €93,600.
Jiri Vana is the chip leader at the end of Day 1B, the Czech player won a couple of substantial pots right at the end of play to finish with 170,300; just ahead of Briki Istavan (168,100) and PokerStars Player Christopher Frank (167,500). Other players who finished well included PokerStars Qualifier Jan Przysucha (149,700) and EPT Vienna Season 10 runner-up Anthony Ghamrawi (144,100). Despite his good stack, Ghamrawi was still a little disappointed with his finish saying glumly “I lost a couple of decent pots at the end.”

Friend of PokerStars Natalie Hof had a frustrating time after a good start, in the last level of the day she pushed for her last 10 big blinds with A♠8♠, WSOP bracelet winner Eddy Scharf reraised all in for 30,400 behind her with 8♥ 8♦ and Dmitry Ponomarev decided to give them both a spin with J♦ 10♦ . The Russian caught the 10♣ on the turn, managing to eliminate both players.
Michael Eiler (71,500), the former EPT Vienna winner, was one of the few bigger names to make it through the day unscathed after Blazej Przygorzewski, Marius Pospiech and Pius Heinz were all among those unable to make it past the first day.
Tomorrow, the remaining 151 players will play down to the money and beyond. There are 71 spots being paid meaning just under half the remaining players will receive a payout. The PokerStars Blog will revert to the more traditional style of reporting when the bubble approaches to make sure you do not miss any of the action.
