Home / Uncategorized / LAPT7 Peru: Post-dinner poker — Balaban the man

Players have returned from dinner break and Level 7 is underway, meaning both late registration and the ability to reenter has concluded for the day, although tomorrow’s Day 1B brings the promise to buy back in once more for anyone busting before night’s end. The big board is showing 274 total entries for Day 1A, with 180 players returning to continue the battle on this first Day 1 flight.

We were noting earlier the fast start of Nicolas Fierro. The Chilean continued to drive the pace as the afternoon wore on, building a stack of nearly 100,000 by the time the break arrived.

Meanwhile Felipe “febalinha” Balaban of Brazil appears to be coming back to the chip lead among those returning for Level 7. A strong last couple of levels helped Balaban move up just over the 100,000-chip mark to position himself well for the evening session.

One of the many players who won his seat via an online satellite, Balaban has just a few live results thus far but many online scores to his credit, including his biggest ever cash when he won the Sunday Warm-Up in June 2011 for $94,975.

Balaban actually finds himself in a favorable position in another respect as well at the moment as he sits to the right of five-time SCOOP winner and WCOOP champion Calvin “cal42688” Anderson.

Anderson busted once early on this afternoon before buying back in, and currently is still sitting at about the starting stack of 20,000 as Level 7 gets underway.

Others with above average stacks at the moment include Johann Ibanez, Ricardo Chauriye, and LAPT7 Chile champion Mario Lopez.
