Home / Uncategorized / LAPT7 Peru: Rise and shine as Day 2 awaits

The sun is out today in picturesque Lima, a somewhat unusual sight as more typically we’re greeted with a steel gray cloud cover for our morning walks into the Atlantic City Casino.

For the 233 players returning for today’s Day 2 of the LAPT Peru Grand Final, being able to survive thus far from the record-breaking 692-entry starting field was another reason to brighten their day. All 233 are still part of the story of this year’s tournament, still retaining the possibility of becoming this season’s LAPT Grand Final champion.

Prospects are most sunny for the returning chip leaders. In fact Henry Zapana — currently sporting the biggest stack of anyone with 199,000 — finds his circumstances so bright he needs a pair of shades.

Carlos Mora (183,500), Osvaldo Rene Lewis (183,100), Cesar Lopez (163,400), and Fernando Takemura (163,100) likewise will be the ones whose big stacks will cast shadows on others to start play today.

Among the many others above the average to begin Day 2 are Thiago Nishijima (110,900), Ariel Celestino (81,900), Ari Engel (73,600), Team PokerStars Online Pro Jorge Limon (73,100), and Kory Kilpatrick (67,000).

Meanwhile Team PokerStars Pros Leo Fernandez (41,300) and Christian de Leon (24,000) each still possess a ray of hope, as does Team Pro Online’s newest member, Celeste Orona (39,700).

Play kicks off shortly at 12 noon with the plan being to play all of the way down to 32 players or as announced. Levels remain one-hour in length, the blinds start at 600/1,200 with a 200 ante, and the average stack to begin is a little under 60,000.

The top 103 finishers make the money — meaning that bubble should burst sometime later this afternoon — with $2,800 the minimum payout and a gleaming $197,540 prize and the shiny trophy awaiting the winner on Sunday.
