The number of chips remain the same. But the number of players handling them has lessened considerably over the last hour-and-a-half, with nearly 40 falling during the first two levels after dinner.
The trip players take after being eliminated takes them outside the poker room, then turning left to the cashier’s desk. So after they go out and leave, they go out and to the left.
U.S. player Kimy Hudson hit the rail in 95th shortly after play resumed post-dinner, pushing her short stack with A♣ 5â™ , going up against an opponent’s 7â™ 7♦ , and failing to improve.
Not long after that newest Team PokerStars Pro Online member Celeste Orona would go out in 93rd after getting her last 20-plus big blinds in the middle with [A][Q] versus [A][3], then watching a trey fall among the community cards. That’s 1-for-1, though, in cashes for Orona at the LAPT.
Following Orona to the rail were the last two remaining members of the red spade brigade.
First Team PokerStars Pro Christian de Leon finally relinquished the short stack he’d nursed all day to finish in 85th. Then Team Online Pro Jorge Limon went out right after him in 84th after his Aâ™ J♦ failed to best an opponent’s Jâ™ J♥ .
After experiencing considerable good fortune just before the bubble burst, Ignacio Lopera then found himself on the other extreme when he ran Kâ™ K♦ into Luis Perez’s A♦ Aâ™ and after a jack-high flop went out in 81st.
The Argentinian Joaquin Ruiz later fell in 73rd after his K♥ 7♥ failed to improve against his fellow countryman Nacho Barbero’s Aâ™ 10♦ . And another Argentinian, two-time LAPT champion Fabian Ortiz, would go out in 63rd after crashing pocket jacks into Diego Nicolas’s aces.
There are 61 players left heading to the break at the moment, to return in 15 minutes for Level 19.
The plan remains to play down to 32 tonight, although it’s likely they’ll stop after two more levels regardless of how many are left so as to assure players a reasonable night’s rest before Day 3.
