We understand it’s a busy time of year, but you might want to leave Sunday free. The reason is quite simple. PokerStars is about to reach another milestone and we want you to help us celebrate.

You might never have paid much attention to the number in the corner of your screen as you open a PokerStars tournament lobby. It looks about as meaningful as a bar code. But on Sunday that tournament number will tick over to a figure that we hope will be remembered for some time to come, particularly by those who take part in what will be the billionth tournament ever played on PokerStars.

1,000,000,000

So how to mark an occasion featuring nine zeros? Well, we’re going to do what we do best, and host a tournament with all the pomp and circumstance worthy of such an occasion. That means a $2 million guarantee and more than $200,000 in added tournament tickets and cash prizes, scattered liberally, and randomly, along the way.

As you can imagine this won’t be any ordinary tournament.

Not only does that guarantee mean the eventual winner will walk away with a first prize of at least $200,000, but hundreds more will collect bonuses, additional treats which will be dished out almost from the start.

Billionth Tournament Carnival

The tournament kicks off at 13:00 ET. Ten minutes later a table of players will be selected at random and all shall win prizes. You don’t even need to do anything. If you’re a winner a message will appear at your table and whatever you win, whether it’s a tournament ticket or a cash prize, will be deposited in your account immediately. So basically try not to be late. But if you are don’t fret – these giveaways will continue for the first two and a half hours of play.

As you might expect taking part couldn’t be easier, with various options open to players of all bankrolls.

The easiest and most straight forward way is to buy-in directly for $109. That’ll guarantee you a seat in no time at all. Alternatively there are satellites, for as little as $1, running around the clock on PokerStars. That means entry to this must-play event at just a fraction of the price.

So while we dust off our tuxedos, prepare the champagne flutes, and arrange the ceremonial marching band and fly past, we’ll leave you to the job of thinking up what to do with your potential windfall.

For a full list of what prizes will be awarded and when, go to the Billionth Tournament webpage, where you’ll also find all the details you’ll need for what will be a memorable finale to the Billionth Tournament Carnival. Don’t forget, you can also read a full round up of the event in the hours after the event finishes on the PokerStars Blog.

Good luck to everyone taking part this weekend. Dress code: casual. Party hats optional.
