Home / Uncategorized / Sunday Million: xKoSSSx surges, scores $215k; Gomes takes 7th

Over half a million dollars hung in the balance as tonight’s final four players attempted to hammer out a deal. The final table’s biggest threat, WSOP and WPT champion Alex “Allingomes” Gomes, had already been neutralized, and only 90 big blinds remained in play. An ICM chop guaranteed all four a six-figure score, and while three of the four parties were willing to accept it and play for a $20,000 bonus, chip leader Daralon was the lone holdout. With $10,000 separating his chip chop share from the ICM share, Daralon wanted to meet in the middle, but all three of his opponents were unwilling to give up a single dollar. The $566k deal ultimately fell apart over $5,000, and Daralon quickly fell out of the chip lead. xKoSSSx surged to the front of the pack when he eliminated FoxyLisa in fourth place, and moments later, he finished off alco555 in third. After a five-hand heads-up battle, xKoSSSx took down the Sunday Million and banked a career-high score of $215k.

7,193 players entered this edition of the Million, pushing the prize pool up to $1,438,600.00. 1,080 places were paid with $215,794.70 up top.

Blinds were up to 125,000/250,000 with ten players remaining. Annouzac made a button raise to 502,706 and p.s.newreg moved all-in from the small blind for 2.47 million. Faithless folded the big blind and annouzac called, his Q♥ Q♣ well ahead of p.s.newreg’s 10â™  10♦ . P.s.newreg didn’t get the miracle he needed on the J♥ 5♣ 5♦ A♦ 3♦ board and hit the rail one spot short of the final table.

Final table chip counts

Seat 1: Savyoni (5,679,274 in chips)
Seat 2: xKoSSSx (8,344,737 in chips)
Seat 3: faithless (9,908,394 in chips)
Seat 4: annouzac (6,499,890 in chips)
Seat 5: FoxyLisa (2,152,211 in chips)
Seat 6: Allingomes (9,420,071 in chips)
Seat 7: Gratitdude (5,890,305 in chips)
Seat 8: alco555 (17,043,620 in chips)
Seat 9: Daralon (6,991,498 in chips)

Short stack FoxyLisa got a huge boost, doubling through xKoSSSx when pocket jacks held up against pocket tens, taking her stack up to 4.65 million. Gratitdude, however, was not as fortunate. Holding 7♥ 7â™  , he got the rest of his chips in before the flop only to run into faithless’s Kâ™  K♥ . Gratitdude did not improve and ended his run in ninth place.

Shortly after Gratitdude’s exit, FoxyLisa scored again. Annouzac open-shoved for 6.04 million on the button and FoxyLisa looked him up with Aâ™  Jâ™  in the small blind. Annouzac’s A♥ 9â™  was dominated and got no help on the Kâ™  3♥ 8♥ 8♦ 2♥ board. Annouzac was left with 2.35 million and moved in a short time later with K♥ 10♣ . FoxyLisa called with A♥ 10â™  . Once again, annouzac’s dominated hand did not improve, and he exited in eighth place.

Team Pro alumni and SCOOP champion Alex “Allingomes” Gomes held the chip lead with 21 players remaining, but was in the middle of the pack by the time the field was down to seven. With the blinds up to 200,000/400,000, xKoSSSx opened for a min-raise to 800,000 and Gomes three-bet to 5.6 million from the small blind. XKoSSSx shoved and Gomes called off his remaining 390,000, his K♦ Q♣ trailing xKoSSSx’s A♥ Q♥ . An ace hit the 3♦ Aâ™  9â™  flop and although Gomes picked up a gutshot straight draw on the turn with the 10♣ , the river blanked out with the 6â™  . For seventh place, Gomes picked up $30,929.90.

FoxyLisa was sitting comfortably with 31 big blinds as six-handed play got underway and opened for 1.05 million with A♣ Qâ™  . Daralon three-bet to 2.1 million from the small blind and FoxyLisa came back over the top with an 11.5 million four-bet. Daralon snap-called all-in and revealed A♥ A♦ . FoxyLisa flopped a gutshot straight draw but didn’t catch up on the Jâ™  10♦ 3♥ 3♦ 6♣ board, as Daralon doubled to 13.7 million. Then, less than an orbit later, faithless three-bet shoved for 6.74 million from the small blind and Daralon called with pocket nines. Faithless’s A♥ Jâ™  did not improve and he hit the rail in sixth place, while Daralon vaulted to 21.2 million in chips.

Meanwhile, Savyoni, the second-shortest stack to start the final table, had hung on to reach five-handed play with less than five big blinds. With the action folded to him in the cutoff, Savyoni finally made his move and shoved for 2.56 million with pocket sixes. Alco555 looked him up from the big blind with Kâ™  7♥ . Savyoni’s pocket pair was quickly snapped off as alco555 made kings and threes on the flop and improved to kings full on the turn, the board running out K♥ 3♥ 3♦ K♦ Qâ™  to end Savyoni’s run in fifth place.

With the blinds up to 400,000/800,000, the final four agreed to pause the action and discuss a potential deal. Here’s how they stacked up at the time:

Daralon 25,037,218
xKoSSSx 18,608,284
alco555 14,601,894
FoxyLisa 13,682,604

Per the players’ request, final table host Marc-Andre “FrenchDawg” Ladouceur provided both ICM and chop chop figures. While xKoSSSx, alco555, and FoxyLisa were willing to accept the ICM shares, chip leader Daralon wanted the extra $10k his chip chop share afforded him. However, his three opponents stuck to their guns and were unwilling to give up any money to Daralon in order to close the deal. With negotiations at a standstill, cards went back in the air.

On the second hand after action resumed, xKoSSSx made it 1.6 million to go and FoxyLisa moved all-in for 12.72 million with A♣ 7â™  . xKoSSSx called and his A♦ Q♥ held up, ending FoxyLisa’s run in fourth place.

Ten hands later, alco555 open-shoved for 13.15 million on the button with K♥ Q♠ and xKoSSSx called with A♦ J♥ . xKoSSSx hit a jack on the flop and another on the turn, sending alco555 to the rail in third place.

Heads-up chip counts

Seat 2: xKoSSSx (48,338,752 in chips)
Seat 9: Daralon (23,591,248 in chips)

xKoSSSx and Daralon exchanged the blinds a few times before Daralon opened for 2 million on the button. xKoSSSx three-bet to 5.05 million, only to have Daralon shove for 24.7 million. xKoSSSx quickly called with A♥ Q♣ and Daralon revealed A♦ 5♣ . xKoSSSx’s dominating hand held up on the J♦ 9â™  8â™  3♦ 8♦ board and he locked up the title… along with a $77,000 raise from that four-handed ICM share.

Congratulations to Romania’s xKoSSSx on his first Sunday Million victory. He banked $215,794.70 for the win while runner-up Daralon earned $158,778.28.
