Home / Uncategorized / FPS Monaco: Gulyy top gun in €2K High Roller; Women’s event and Monaco Cup hotting up

When we last checked in with the High Roller Luciana Manolea was the chip leader and with 80 players remaining another 25 needed to be eliminated before anyone was in the money. Since then they’ve burst through the bubble and around 25 players have been eliminated in the money.

As they returned from dinner break 33 players remained in contention for the first prize of €144,100 and Russian regular Yury Gulyy was the man they were all looking to catch. His total of 900,000 gives him an impressive 90 big blind stack and almost three times the average stack of 359,000. At the other end of the spectrum sits Team PokerStars Pro Jake Cody, “I need a double up,” he said. Cody’s stack of 63,000 is well and truly in the danger zone.

Other stacks of note include:

Filippo Lazzaretto, 760,000
Robert Agayan, 610,000
Laszlo Telek, 605,000
David Peters, 600,000
Nicolas Cardyn, 530,000
Joao Vieira, 525,000
Bryan Paris, 520,000
Andrei Konopelko, 515,000
Carlos Chadha, 465,000
Luciana Manolea, 435,000
Ben Heath, 424,000
Michael Tureniec, 370,000
Ihar Soika, 265,000
Nicolau Villa-Lobos, 245,000
Neil Strike, 210,000
Franck Kalfon, 180,000
Dermot Blain, 146,000
Shyam Srinivasan, 125,000

Plenty of big names have cashed but crashed including: Daniel Dvoress (37th, €4,390), Rhys Jones (39th, €4,390) and Vicente Delgado (54th, €3,650). The plan is for this event to finish tonight, but they’ll be cutting it fine if they do get it done as the casino closes at 6am and it wouldn’t be a surprise to find them still playing at that time.

Two other side events that are still playing today should conclude though. The €300 FPS Monaco Cup attracted 747 runners over three start days of whom 168 returned today. Those who came back needed to finish in the top 111 with a min-cash worth €550. As they went on dinner break a short time ago just 23 players remained. The average stack is 324,000 and the blinds will go 8,000/16,000 ante 2,000 when they return.

Everyone left in has locked up €1,400 and those left in include: Igor Sbytnyev (630,000), Kasra Pour Khomamy (575,000), Sebastien Buonomo (506,000), Daniele Vesco (305,000), Erwann Pecheux (295,000) and Rachel Ben Addy (250,000). Notable in the money finishers in that event so far are: Dan Heimiller (70th, €690), Paul Testud (39th, €890) and Adam Owen (28th, €1,010).

The women’s event is nearing the money

Whilst there were plenty of start days in the Monaco Cup, the €220 Woman’s event began today and will end today. It attracted 65 entrants including: Christin Maschmann, Galle Garcia Diaz and EPT8 London Woman’s event champion Jan Combes – she’s the mother of British Pro Charlie Combes. When we checked in on that event there were 19 players remaining and Isabel Baltazar appeared to be the chip leader. The top nine will get paid with the winner collecting €3,690.
