MicroMillions 8 was another unqualified success and the last day of the series gave players ten final shots at some big money. While the Sunday Majors were running their course, thousands of players tried to earn their piece of more than half a million in guaranteed prize money for very small buy-in amounts.

The 99th event out of 100 was a quick, fun $3.30 No Limit tournament with a turbo format and $40,000 guarantee. More than 22,000 players paid the price to get in the game and they created a $67,557 prizepool with $6,771 going to the winner.

Those 22,519 players managed to play through the money bubble at 3,150 in just two hours and there were less than 100 remaining after four. The average stack never dropped below ten big blinds but it was never much higher, it was thanks to the fast structure and action happy players.

One hour later and the final table bubble lasted just a few hands before Beliy 30 moved all-in with K♣ 5â™  . He out-flopped Jonatansin’s A♣ Q♥ but it only lasted until the turn. The final table began with THAY4R as the leader and only player over ten big blinds.

Pinho22 slides to final table, eliminated in 9th

The elimination of Beliy 30 in 10th spot was a bonus for Pinho22 who managed to sneak to the final table with less than four big blinds. The Portuguese grinder wasted no time open-shoving them in the middle on the second hand of play from the small blind.

dekwon called from the big blind with K♦ J♥ and needed help to knock out Pinho22 holding A♣ 5♣ . That help came immediately on the Q♥ J♠ 5♠ flop leaving Pinho22 looking for a miracle. Nothing happened on the 9♥ turn and the tournament was done for Pinho22 in 9th place courtesy of the J♣ river.

Jonatansin moves all-in, eliminated in 8th

Keeping with the fast play theme, it took just two more hands for another all-in to be called and another player was at risk. szano82 opened from middle position and Jonatansin three-bet shoved for 11.7 million in the small blind with J♦ J♥ .

The Hawk26 took his time folding from the big blind before szano82 quickly called with A♣ Q♠ . It was a near classic race and Jonatansin fell behind quickly when the flop rolled out A♦ 9♥ 5♦ . He was stuck looking at two outs twice then whiffed on both the 8♠ turn and Q♦ river. It was a quick exit for Jonatansin but he picked up $608 for the 8th place result.

funpoker85 not so fun, eliminated in 7th

There was a pattern emerging over a small subset of hands and another player was once again staring at elimination just two hands later. This time it was funpoker85 who called all-in from the big blind after THAY4R open-shoved from the small blind.

funpoker85: A♣ J♣
THAY4R: A♥ Q♣

THAY4R was holding the dominant hand before they both flopped a gut-shot Broadway draw on the K♥ 10♣ 7♦ board. A Jack would no longer save funpoker85 and he didn’t catch up on the 3♥ turn. funpoker85 was stuck looking for one of the remaining Queens but it was THAY4R hitting the Jâ™  for the unnecessary straight. funpoker85 was near the top of the counts at the start but had to settle for 7th place and $949.

ian04x on the river, eliminated in 6th

They broke the pattern and managed to go almost two orbits before someone else was in danger. That time it was anze1234 doubling through szano82 while THAY4R continued to pad his lead. He was the only player over the magical ten big blind number with everyone else very short.

It was ian04x who would be next to take his chance for a double when he open-shoved for barely more than a min-raise with A♠ 2♣ . It folded around to their leader in the big blind and he called with J♥ 9♥ . ian04x was ahead to stay alive but THAY4R picked up a ton of outs on the Q♦ 10♣ 5♠ flop.

ian04x dodged an elimination card on the 6♠ turn but he was gone in 6th because of the river 9♦ . He rode the short stack well to take home $1,351 and the first four-digit payout of the tournament.

anze1231 aced, eliminated in 5th

THAY4R continued to add to his stack and The Hawk26 also found a big double shortly after ian04x was sent to the rail. anze1231’s earlier big hand wasn’t enough to move him much closer to the leader and he was soon all-in once again.

szano82 shoved from under the gun with A♣ 4♠ and anze1231 called immediately behind with 9♣ 9♥ with a smaller stack. No other players opted to come along and anze1231 was looking good right up until the A♦ 10♣ 7♣ flop.

anze1231 was looking for a Nine or running miracle cards but his chances shrank after the 3♥ turn. There would be no dramatic comeback story for anze1231 when 5♥ hit the turn and he was eliminated in 5th place for $2,026.

szano82 drops quickly, eliminated in 4th

That hand meant szano82 was now in position to challenge for the lead and that status lasted for six entire hands. THAY4R moved back to a commanding lead when he won a 36 million pot off szano82. His K♣ 5♣ beat K♦ 6♥ when a full house ran out on the 5♦ 4♦ 4♠ 4♣ 5♣ board and THAY4R was just a little better.

The hand dropped szano82 back to the small pack and he called all-in after THAY4R shoved from the small blind with A♥ 10♥ . szano82 was in a world of trouble with A♦ 6♠ and the J♣ 10♦ 5♥ only made things worse.

szano82 was less than 1% to win the hand and was drawing dead when the 8♦ hit the turn. No card could help on the river and szano82 ws gone in 4th place for $2,702.

dekwon lost, eliminated in 3rd

Seat 6: The Hawk26 (27,113,112 in chips)
Seat 7: dekwon (6,812,092 in chips)
Seat 8: THAY4R (78,669,796 in chips)

Blinds: 1.5m/3m with 374k ante

The last three standing played a few more hands before the scheduled break paused the tournament. While they enjoyed their five minutes without cards, they decided to negotiate a deal to divide the remaining prizepool.

THAY4R had a huge lead and squeezed them for more than his ICM value, guaranteeing himself $6,000 while The Hawk26 sitting in 2nd accepted the odd deal. He was in perfect position to finish 2nd but agreed to less than 2nd place money. He would need to win and pick up the $800 left in the pool to pass that mark.

They all agreed and dekwon was the one needing immediate help. The Hawk26 min-bet from the small blind which more than enough to cover dekwon in the big blind. It was a quick call and dekwon was ahead with A♥ 10♠ versus 4♠ 3♣ .

dekwon needed The Hawk26 to miss his live cards but one came right on the Q♥ 9♣ 3â™  flop. It left dekwon in trouble and he couldn’t find help on the 7♥ turn or 5♦ river to send dekwon out in 3rd spot for $3,610.

Seat 6: The Hawk26 (34,300,204 in chips)
Seat 8: THAY4R (78,294,796 in chips)

Blinds: 1.5m/3m with 374k ante

THAY4R was the top dog for most of the quick final table and was already set to earn at least $6,000 at the end. He had a healthy lead but The Hawk26 bounced back in a hurry after he three-bet shoved with A♦ 7♥ on the third hand.

THAY4R seemed to be eager to end it all and called with K♣ 9â™  . The Hawk26 didn’t have him completely drawing dead after the A♥ 7♣ 2♥ flop but it was close. The 2♦ turn accomplished that and 62.6 million pot swung the lead in The Hawk26’s favor.

The heads up battle only last six more hands and it was the only one to get to a flop. It took four bets before The Hawk26 had enough in the pot to cover THAY4R and they both tabled their hands.

THAY4R: 5♣ 4♣
The Hawk26: A♣ 10♣

THAY4R needed to run like he did early in the tournament but missed the J♣ 9♣ 9♦ flop. He is luck never returned. He was done when the turn and river spread out K♥ A♥ .

The final table lasted only 40 hands from start to finish and it was The Hawk26 earning the MicroMillions title for $5,558. THAY4R settled for 2nd place and the bigger $6,000 payout.
